Module 030 - Introduction to Black & White

Home   |   About the RPS  |   Galleries  |   Site Map

The Objective of this course was to become familiar with taking, developing and printing black & white photographs. This is actually a lot more fun than playing with Photoshop (or Paint Shop Pro etc..), as you are physically producing something, rather than mucking about in front of a PC (or Mac) screen.

Lions Image

a) Climbing the Lions
This is a candid shot of two children climbing the lions at Trafalgar square. The shapes of the children's legs as they climb are an interesting diagonal shapes, breaking up the horizontals of the stone.
Unfortunately as the shot was hurriedly taken, it was somewhat under exposed. This has meant that a lot of local control was required to produce a decent image.
